Wolfson Foundation Grant

We are pleased to say that the school has been awarded a £50,000 grant from the Wolfson Foundation towards the fitting out of the Engineering space in the new East Wing.  The Wolfson Foundation (www.wolfson.org.uk) is an independent charity that supports and promotes excellence in the fields of science, health, education and the arts and humanities.

As the CEO says in their own letter "Funding from the Wolfson Foundation is awarded following rigorous and independent expert review.  The grant recognises the quality of your project and we hope that it not only acts as an endorsement of you activities  but may also help you to secure additional funds from other sources."

The bid was assessed by Sir Eric Ash who visited the school in April.  A range of pupils and staff met Sir Eric and were instrumental in showcasing the school - well done to everyone involved!

The Governors of Westcliff High School for Girls have embarked on an ambitious programme to build a new East Wing containing nine new teaching areas. This will provide the necessary modern, specialist accommodation for all our Art, Design and Technology teaching, housing them in one area and equipping our students with the best possible experience and opportunities in these subjects.

The Education Funding Agency has already allocated £3.6 million towards the cost of this project. However, the project has been put out to tender and the total cost of the works is £4.7million. The main programme of work commenced in January 2017 and is scheduled to last a year.

We are looking to raise over £1 million to complete this project.

In order to complete this ambitious project we are looking for help from stakeholders who are committed to the future learning and development of the next generation of young people. We are asking for gifts, charitable donations and grants from local organisations and sponsors. We are also raising funds through activities which will involve the current students and parents.

We encourage all organisations, corporations and individuals to become part of this landmark project which will help improve the educational outcomes of thousands of children.

If you would like to know more about the new building,to sponsor a project, to organise a fundraising event or you would like to recommend a company for their Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, please contact:
