Sixth Form Induction Days
Please see below videos for a virtual Sixth Form Induction.
Unfortunately we are unable to share the final recording of the day due to technical difficulties.
However, having saved and reviewed the chat from this session, it is clear that there were a number of unanswered questions regarding the Black Lives Matter movement and how we deal with racism at WHSG.
As discussed during the meeting, we have received correspondence from current and former students regarding the Black Lives Matter movement and we will be setting up a working party when we return to school to look at this in greater detail. We do not tolerate racism and have policies and procedures in place to manage racist incidents and behaviour.
Please see the following statement from our Head Teacher, Dr Paul Hayman, which was posted on our website on 10th June 2020:
As a community we are very aware of the Black Lives Matter campaign and are fully committed to activities and actions that promote equality. We also recognise that there is justifiable anger about any racism or discrimination that occurs.
We are keen to reflect on our own practices but it is very difficult to engage in meaningful dialogue at this time. Once we return to school, I intend to set up a working group to listen to our pupils and other stakeholders and to make recommendations on what we can do to move forward
