Introduction
The Careers, Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) Programme at Westcliff High School for Girls is designed to support students in developing the skills, knowledge and experience that enable them to make informed decisions about their future career and educational options. Students learn about the different educational routes available, the range of occupations and sectors that make up the labour market.
We provide a comprehensive and up to date programme that is based upon the Gatsby Benchmarks. The core programmes of study are delivered through Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE) lessons and Activity days and this is supported by a programme of extra-curricular activities. Students also learn about different careers throughout the curriculum and each department delivers lessons/activities linking their subject to relevant careers and the skills required. Year 10 students undertake a two week work experience placement, which gives them an incite into the world of work and helps support their holistic development as well as assisting with school and subject choices for Sixth Form.
The Sixth Form Programme consists of an excellent varied programme of visiting speakers from industry and education as well as visits to higher education fairs. This year we have launched an Enrichment Programme for Year 12, which gives students the opportunity to do work experience or undertake a community project.
